Samsung Launches Movie Store for Mobile Phones

Samsung Mobile rolled out the Samsung Movies, a dedicated movie store for Samsung mobile phone users. Powered by Acetrax, the new store will allow customers to download and watch their favourite movies and TV shows whenever they like on compatible Samsung phones, laptops or PCs. Over 500 blockbusters such as The Dark Knight, RocknRolla and Ironman and hit TV series, including Gossip Girl, E.R. and Friends, can be downloaded and viewed on video enabled Samsung phones such as the new Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition. Customers will also be able to access TV shows with exclusive ‘first look’ content.

Samsung revealed their latest rugged cellphone, the Samsung Xplorer B2100.  The quadband GSM handset offers basic functionality, as there is no 3G data network support, with just 7MB of built-in storage that is offset by a microSD memory card slot. The 1.77-inch screen has 120×160 resolution, while a 1.3-megapixel camera captures still and moving images.Samsung also throw in an FM radio, and the whole thing measures 4.45 x 1.93 x 0.69 inches and weighs 3.63oz.  It’ll apparently hit Europe – and Germany in particular – come April 2009; no US release has been detailed, nor price, though we’d expect to see the Xplorer B2100 free with a new contract.

Official statements were released that Rogers will be offering the White Nokia E71. The Nokia E71 is the thinnest Smartphone that Rogers has. Some features are the dual e-mail option for corporate and personal, built in GPS, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, up to 8GB of expandable memory storage. They will be offering the model for $99.99 on a 3-year contract with a minimum $45 Voice and Data plan. Other price plans are:

  • 1-year contract: $399.99
  • Month-to-Month: $399.99
  • Outright: $449.99
