Softbank 9225H handset

Sharp revealed a new handset, the Softbank 9225H, during CEATEC 2008. The cool factor of the handset is that it comes equipped with a QWERTY keyboard just like in PCs or laptops. The phone also features a 3.5-inch full-wide VGA display, 1-Seg, music playback, email functionality and expandable micro SDHC slot. No info on pricing at this time.

 NTT DOCOMO introduces the Fujitsu L706ie

NTT DOCOMO announced the Fujitsu L706ie, which will be launched on Friday, August 1st. The new L706ie sports a 2.4″ 262k QVGA / TFT LCD internal screen with 320 × 240 pixels and a 1.3″ 65k TFT LCD external screen with 128 × 160 pixels resolution. On the top of the phone you can find a 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera with auto focus. The L706ie works with W-CDMA and GSM system, and provides approximately 300 hours of standby time and approximately 150 minutes of talk time. The phone also enables TV for approximately 100 minutes. Customers can make 3 color choices: Gold, Pink or White. No words about pricing were announced, but it will be available simultaneously at all DOCOMO dealers.

BlackBerry Internet Service

NTT DOCOMO announced today that on August 1 it will launch the BlackBerry Internet Service for direct connection to the Internet without the need for a dedicated server. The service can be used with the BlackBerry 8707h, which is being sold in Japan at the moment.

The BlackBerry Internet Service will cost 3,045 yen per month (tax included). The FOMA basic monthly fee and normal packet charges will apply separately. In addition, a discount packet-billing plan to be launched on September 1, called the BlackBerry Data Transmission Package, will enable users to transmit up to 80,000 packets of data per month for a flat charge of 1,680 yen. Data exceeding this limit will be charged at 0.0525 yen per packet.

DOCOMO will demonstrate the new BlackBerry Internet Service during Wireless Japan 2008 at Tokyo Big Sight from July 22 to 24.

Sony Ericsson expects to launch its 3G mobile phone SO706i featuring 1-Seg support in Japan market through NTT DoCoMo, which will be available on July 4th.Measuring 105*49*13.4mm at 98g, the SO706i adopts a 2.8-inch display, 2M camera and micro SD card expanding up to 2GB capacity.
