With a screen that rolls over to the back of the phone, Weiting Chen’s concept Sony phone looks to be a technical wonder. I can’t imagine how one will be able to fabricate a screen that rolls over (i.e. curves) so easily and not crack! Personally i like this idea, with a big screen.

A gold edition of the Motorola A1600 touchscreen phone has just appeared on the Chinese website of the company.Other than the new shiny colors the Motorola A1600 Gold has no differences from the original model. It still flaunts the 2.4-inch 262K color QVGA touchscreen display and the signature MING semi-transparent plastic active cover. The handset also runs on the same Linux based OS and has quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support (no 3G as you might have guessed, we are speaking China here). The Motorola A1600 also packs a 3 megapixel shooter, a microSD card slot (up to 4GB), stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), a microUSB port, and a stereo FM radio. Its final noteworthy feature is the built-in GPS receiver which allows both real-time GPS navigation and geotagging of the photos taken with the built-in camera.
Motorola A1600 is already available for purchase, costing about 685 euro (865 US dollars).

The crisis in the global economy is not slowing LG down,we already know that LG wants to launch about 10 smartphones in 2009 only. The UK alone will supposedly receive 25 of these new handsets which, if launched at a steady pace, would equate to a new handset every two weeks. Keep in mind this ambitious roadmap is on only paper and not written in stone. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to watch LG in 2009 to see if it can meet this lofty goal. Wonder what new handsets they plan on sending stateside in 2009…
