 Telus HTC Touch Pro2 Now Available at Best Buy

The Telus HTC Touch Pro2 is now available at Best Buy for CAD$249.99 (US$230). In case you didn’t know, the smartphone features a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2MP shooter with auto-focus, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, a microSD (HC) card slot, an FM radio with RDS and a 528Mhz Qualcomm CPU.

HTC today revealed its newest QWERTY smartphone, the HTC Snap featuring a slim 12mm body. The HTC Snap is using a huge 1500mAh battery, allowing it to be used for 8 and a half hours of continuous talk time. The full QWERTY keyboard is ergonomically designed with extra-large domed keys and responsive tactile feedback to make typing emails and text messages fast, accurate and comfortable.

Other specs and features include:

  • QVGA display
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • 2MP camera
  • 528MHz Qualcomm CPU
  • 256MB of ROM and 128MB of RAM

The HTC Snap is expected to be available in select channels during the second quarter of 2009, rolling out in markets around the world throughout the second half of the year.

The signature feature of Skeleton Gold is the open back executed of sapphire crystal, which is inspired by complicated swiss skeleton watches. Each of 23 functional keys of Skeleton Gold is executed of 18K gold with the application of ultra-precision turning technology. There is a gold triangle on the front panel of the case. The screen of the phone is enframed by hand-polished 42K sapphire glass.

Microsoft announces Windows Mobile 6.5.The new OS should be pre-installed on phones coming out in Q4 2009; sadly, it sounds as though no existing WinMo devices will be “officially” upgradeable.

What’s new at Windows Mobile 6.5 :

  • New version of Internet Explorer which adds zoom slider and frequently-used commands

Acer launches first smartphones at MWC

Acer today made official the first smartphones to launch under its own name. The Tempo X960, F900, M900, and DX900 smartphones.The Tempo X960 have a 2.8-inch touchscreen and a customized Windows Mobile 6.1 interface with large, finger-sized buttons for common tasks as well as widgets for weather and other quick but frequently accessed features. It comes with a relatively quick 533MHz Samsung processor and is outfitted with a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. A microSDHC slot and a directional pad provide storage and backup controls respectively. For business users, the F900 is a more media-oriented alternative to the X960 and drops non-touch input for the same 3.8-inch display as the M900 while keeping the 3.2-megapixel camera and other features of its X series equivalent.

Acer launches first smartphones at MWC

The DX900 is tailored to Asians and Europeans that regularly use two SIM cards to mix prepaid services, roam continents, or to keep separate phone lines. LG has made the official the LG GM730 Windows phone. Powered by the new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and 3D S-Class UI, the GM730 has a 528 MHz Qualcomm cpu, 128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM, 5 megapixel camera, built in GPS, FM Receiver and WQVGA screen (240 x 400 pixels). It will be available in first half of 2009 with Windows Mobile 6.1, follow by Windows Mobile 6.5 by the end of this year.
